Boyd Davis, Ph.D.
Principal Investigator 

Boyd Davis is Cone Professor at UNCC, and coordinates Applied Linguistics. Principal investigator for Project More, Dr. Davis works with teachers to assess their classroom needs and helps them develop successful ways to instruct their ELL and at-risk students. As part of the ongoing work to develop a regional corpus of narrative and conversation, Dr. Davis also conducts research on Alzheimer's discourse.

 

 

 

 

 

 

John A. Gretes, Ph.D.
Design and Technology
Consultant

John Gretes is Professor in the
College of Education, Department of Educational Research and Technology, where he not only guides graduate students to certification and higher degrees, he guides the rest of UNCC's faculty in developing technology assessment. He developed Passport activities for NCTeach, co-directs FIPSE projects across the UNCC campus, and has extensive experience with international students

Lisa Russell-Pinson, Ph.D.
Project Manager
 

Lisa Russell-Pinson serves as Project Manager of Project MORE. As project manager, Dr. Russell-Pinson oversees the collection of narratives for the project and the development of materials from those narratives. Her research interests include corpus linguistics, written medical discourse, pedagogical grammar and ESL/EFL teacher training.

 
 

Josianne L. Bigham, M.A.
Assistant Project Manager
 

Josianne Bigham serves as Assistant Project Manager of Project MORE. Her duties for the project include overseeing the day-to-day administration of the grant, editing project materials and training project staff. Ms. Bigham, who earned an M.A. in English-Children's Literature, has experience tutoring ESL and has traveled widely in Europe.

 
 

Kimberly A. Bailey, M.A.
Assistant Project Manager

 

Kim Bailey serves as Assistant Project Manager of Project MORE. Her duties for the project include overseeing the day-to-day administration of the grant, editing project materials and training project staff. Ms. Bailey, who earned an M.A. in English-technical writing, has extensive experience in conducting interviews with multicultural populations and has traveled widely in Africa.

 
 

Qun Su, M.Ed.
Research Assistant

Qun Su came from China. She serves as Research Assistant of Project MORE. Her duties for the project include selection, evaluation, and design of technology-deliverable interfaces, developing & maintaining the website of Project MORE. Ms. Su, who earned an M.Ed. in Instructional Systems Technology, has experience in instructional design and Web-based instruction.

 

 

 

Chris Dunfee
Transcriber and Editor

Chris Dunfee lives in Denver, NC, where her passion for gardening extends to environmental activism. A former medical transcriber, Chris has advanced work in TESL.

 

Krystal Blanton
Tagging Coordinator
 

 

Krystal Blanton's MA program in Applied Linguistics, which includes coursework in ESL and the Gerontology Certificate, has led her to work with international seniors. For Project MORE, Krystal has developed and supervised metadata and tagging, and is the project's audio czarina.
