Licensure Programs for Those Seeking an Initial License to Teach
All programs of study lead to a baccalaureate degree and/or an "A" teaching license. They include:
B.A. in Child & Family Development
Birth-Kindergarten licensure
B.A. in Elementary Education (grades K-6)
Students choose one concentration or one minor
B.A. in Middle Grades Education (grades 6-9)
Students choose two of the following concentrations:
- English/Language arts
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social studies
B.A. in Special Education (grades K-12)Under
- Adapted Curriculum License
- General Curriculum License
B.A. in Special Education and Elementary Education (grades K-6)
Minor in Secondary Education
Majors within the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences:
In collaboration with appropriate departments in the College of LiberalArts & Sciences, the College of Education offers professional education coursework that lead to licensure to teach in the following areas of Secondary Education (grades 9-12):
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Comprehensive science(builds on any science major)
- Comprehensive social studies(builds on a major in geography or history)
- Earth science
- English
- History
- Mathematics
- Physics
In collaboration with appropriate departments in the College of Arts & Architecture, the College of Education offers professional education coursework that can lead to licensure to teach in the following areas of K-12 education:
