Project Wet

Project Wet workshops are open to all interested educators including classroom teachers, environmental educators, resource agency staff, park and nature center personnel, teaching fellows, college students and faculty, and youth leaders. At these workshops, participants engage in cooperative, hands-on learning, experiencing the activities as they are presented by skilled facilitators and their peers.

Workshop#3

Neo-Tropical Migratory Birds

Neo-tropical migrants or neo-tropical migratory birds are those species that breed in North American and winter in

Mexico, Central, and South America and the Caribbean. You know many of these as songbirds. They brighten our lives with flashes of color and beautiful song; they announce the coming of spring, after long winters. Many of us actually take them for granted, but this group of birds

is in trouble. In the past several years, the alarming downward population trends of many neo-tropical species

has been made known. The culprits are both the loss of wintering ground habitat and habitat fragmentation on the breeding grounds. Come and learn about neo-tropical birds,

time to observe, activities for the classroom, and excellent

hand-outs will be provided.
