North Carolina Teaching Fellows Program

This program identifies academically talented students interested in teaching and assists those students in becoming teachers by awarding scholarship loans for four years of undergraduate study, repayable through service in North Carolina's public schools. Recipients are awarded $6,500 a year for four years of full-time study.

Who is eligible?
High school students in twelfth grade

Eligibility Requirements

  • Plan to enroll as a full-time student at a designated four-year institution
  • Pursue studies continuously thereafter as a full-time student that will qualify the Fellow to teach in North Carolina's public schools
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress
  • Participate in special summer programs and other activities as directed by the Teaching Fellows Commission
