Areas of Interest and Research: Primary focus
is on redressing issues of equity and social justice especially within
the historical discourse of Adult Education particularly as it relates
to race. Through the use of race-based theoretical frameworks such as
Africentric Philosophical Theory and Critical Race Theory and the use of
qualitative and historical methodology, I integrate issues of
educational equity among African American adult learners through
historical projects focusing on the 1920-1950 time frame; through
informal learning experiences such as Hip Hop and the Spoken Word; and
through research on African American doctoral student persistence.
