Masters of Arts in English Education Program
Degree Requirements

 


The M.A. in English Education requires 38 hours of advanced study in English and Education.  These courses include English/Education 6274—Contexts and Issues in the Teaching of English—which the candidate takes on entry to the program.  This course helps the candidate pursue questions that might develop into a master's thesis.  Toward the end of  the program, the candidate is required to take English/Education 6674—Applied Research Methods in the Teaching of English.  This course helps the candidate launch the required masters thesis.  The masters thesis is 6 hours of independent research (English/Education 6974).  Included as part of the program of study is 12 hours of  content specialization in English and 12 hours of professional education including MDSK 6260 Principles of Teacher Leadership.
