WEIGHT LOSS DAILY MEAL PLAN

Jane, age 42, is a divorced mother with 2 teenage children and works a fulltime job.  She walks every Saturday and Sunday morning for 30 minutes.  Due to her busy schedule, she eats a lot of processed foods (frozen dinners) and fast food.  Jane's goal is to lose 20 pounds of weight.

Step 1:  Jane's goal is to lose weight.

Step 2:  Jane is a less active women, therefore her calorie needs should be in the 2,000 calories daily range to maintain a healthy weight. 

Step 3:  At 2,000 calorie level, Jane's daily servings would include:

            8 servings from the grain group
            3-4 servings from the vegetable group
            2-3 servings from the fruit group
            2-3 servings from the milk group
            2 servings from the meat group

Step 4:  Jane's diet should include choices from the Food Choices section and the Lowfat Food Tips in the Diet Tips section.
