Lateral Entry at UNC Charlotte
The College of
Education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte welcomes you to
this website devoted to the special needs of current and prospective
Lateral Entry Teachers. We recognize that licensure and the steps to it
sometimes are like a giant puzzle, so we've created a website especially
for you. The site is designed to lead you to the pieces of information
you need to put the licensure puzzle together!
To get
started, we invite you to click on the links in the navigation bar on the
left side of the screen.

The ad-hoc
Distance Education courses (in the areas of Special Education, Middle
Grades, and Secondary Education) are available for self-registration.
Many of them are offered online in various semesters, and others are
offered at site-based institutes in summer semesters. Please check
the listings (click below) and read the information carefully, so that
you find the course you need that is offered in the way you prefer.
Remember: You
must be admitted to UNC Charlotte to take any course. NOW
is the time to take care of that process. For information about application procedures
and deadlines, please click on Admission in the left navigation bar.
