Call for Proposals for the 2010 Annual Meeting
The North
Carolina Association for Research in Education (NCARE) invites proposals
for its annual meeting, to be held February 25-26, 2010, at the Hawthorne
Inn and Conference Center in Winston-Salem, NC. This year’s conference
theme is “Reform in Education: The Role of Educational Research.” The
meeting will feature a full day of sessions on February 26 and a social
the evening of February 25.
Call for Proposals
A paper, poster, or symposium on any educational
research or evaluation topic likely to interest North Carolina educators
will be considered for the program.
All proposals will be reviewed by at least two
referees, using the criteria of quality, originality, and significance.
All proposals should be submitted electronically (http://ncare.us).
To submit a paper or poster proposal, individuals need to include an
abstract (no more than 200 words) and proposal summary (approximately 1200
words or 2 pages single spaced) that includes the following headings:

Perspective or theoretical framework
-
Methods
or techniques
-
Data
sources
-
Results
and conclusions
For a
symposium proposal, the organizer will coordinate arrangements and submit
a single proposal for the entire symposium. More information about session
formats and proposal requirements is provided on the NCARE website.
Deadline for receipt of proposals is
Friday, January 15, 2010.
Presenters will be notified of the status of acceptance of their proposals
by Friday, January 22, 2010.
The meeting will be held at the Hawthorne Inn &
Convention Center in Winston-Salem. NCARE has 20 rooms reserved at the Inn
for February 25, 2010. If you plan to stay at the Hawthorne Inn on
February 25, you will need to make your reservations early! The Inn has
guaranteed special rates through January 26, 2010. More information about
reservations is available at the NCARE website (http://ncare.us).

How
to Submit a Symposium Proposal
Papers presented in
a symposium should be thematically related and complementary.
There should be an opportunity for dialogue, differing viewpoints, and
audience comment.
The
organizer of a symposium is responsible for identifying the appropriate topic,
securing speakers, arranging for a chairperson, and inviting discussants.
If the symposium is accepted, the organizer assures that everyone named
as a participant will be present at the meeting.
Should circumstances prevent a participant from attending, the organizer
will secure a suitable replacement, and notify the NCARE President-Elect as soon
as possible.
Only the organizer
will be notified of the acceptance of a symposium.
The organizer is responsible for notifying individual participants of
arrangements.
