Abstract:
This research study analyzed the instructional practices of most effective versus least effective U. S. History teachers identified by a multiple
regression model. The study found that most effective teachers had a more complete package of rigor, relevance, and relationship strategies than less
effective teachers. Effective teachers have strong content knowledge, prepare their own materials, teach reading and note-taking skills, use time
wisely, and connect history to themes across time. Relationship is of utmost importance to effective teachers. They give frequent positive feedback
and
believe that all students can succeed. Effective teachers create an atmosphere of mutual respect where teachers and students are enthusiastic. Class is FUN! These results are motivating teacher and school improvement efforts.
