The Office of Educational Outreach (OEO) works in conjunction with numerous groups, departments, and professionals in an effort to provide the community a variety of educational opportunities. These activities target teachers, middle and secondary students, counselors, administrators, and other community stakeholders that are committed to strengthening the local infrastructure of education, i.e., curriculum, pedagogy, networking, resources, etc.
OEO is committed to promoting continuous partnerships in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg region that support a diverse population of learners, teachers, and other professionals. Through continued dialogue with community, OEO will continue to support the university’s mission to increase the intellectual capital of this region.
Dr. Victor Mack is the Director of Educational Outreach for the College of Education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He has served in this capacity since 2006 and is responsible for numerous professional development trainings, conferences, and K-12 initiatives that support minority excellence and college matriculation. Dr. Mack has served since 2008 as the Board Chair of StudentFirst Academy, a newly-approved charter school in the West Mecklenburg sector of Charlotte. From 1996-2006, Dr. Mack served as the Center for STEM Education Pre-College Coordinator at UNC Charlotte, a member of the North Carolina Mathematics and Education Network. In that capacity, he served as the Regional Science Fair Director, Regional Science Olympiad Director, and Co-Director of the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium. Dr. Mack began his professional career in 1994 with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools as a mathematics instructor at Providence High School. He earned his doctorate degree from UNC Charlotte in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on Urban Education in 2012; a master’s degree in Instructional Systems Technology from UNC Charlotte in 2003; and bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education from North Carolina A&T State University in 1994.
Ms. Jennifer Townsend has been a member of the UNC Charlotte staff for one year. She has served as the Undergraduate Assistant for the Office of Educational Outreach and is a 2011 UNC Charlotte graduate, majoring in accounting. Ms. Townsend brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Office of Educational Outreach from her previous work experiences with the Bar Management Group, SABIC Innovative Plastic, and Aquesta Bank.
