The Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Office of Educational Outreach (OEO), the Diversity in Information Technology Institute, the Charlotte Teachers Circle, and the Charlotte Mathematics Club proudly present the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Regional Julia Robinson Mathematics and Computing Festival (JRMCF), Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. at UNC Charlotte.

The Julia Robinson Mathematics and Computing Festival was founded in spring 2007 to encourage middle school girls to investigate diverse areas of mathematics they would not ordinarily encounter in the classroom. Mathematicians ranging from college undergraduates to first-rate professionals host tables devoted to different activities; students work on the activities with each other and with the activity leader. Students spend perhaps 30 minutes on each of 6 activities that they choose from the several dozen available.

There is a $5.00 pre-registration fee until March 16, 2012 for each participant and lunch will be provided.  On-site registration will be $20.00 per participants.  After lunch, participants will enjoy a mathematical presentation by a national speaker to be announced.
