Let me share with you the mission statement of the UNC Charlotte College of Education:
.. . to prepare excellent professionals who are knowledgeable, effective, reflective, collaborative and responsive practitioners who are leaders in their fields. This mission is accomplished by working in partnership with schools, communities, and university colleagues and in response to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s commitment to children, families, and schools.
As you can see, partnership is central to our mission - and our central partnerships are with Professional Development Schools – where our students can learn from splendid practitioners in real world settings. Let me extend a welcome to all of our partners and celebrate our work as a community of scholars that strives to enhance the educational experiences of all.
Mary Lynne Calhoun, Dean, UNC Charlotte College of Education
The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is proud of the long-standing partnerships with many schools and with many school districts. Our Professional Development School initiative provides a focus for expanding and enhancing experiences for all educators at the university and within the schools. These experiences will connect professional education coursework and authentic school and classroom experiences through a multitude of initiatives.
Let us invite you to browse through our website to explore how we are collaborating and encouraging excellence in the preparation and on-going professional development of educators to ultimately maximize student performance and achievement in our P-12 schools.
