
The Graduate Certificate in Play Therapy consists of a coherent program of play therapy course work. The program is available for students who have completed master’s degrees in counseling, social work or psychology, but who want additional coursework in play therapy. In addition, students currently enrolled in the master's or doctoral program in the Department of Counseling at UNC Charlotte may take the coursework required for the Graduate Certificate.
A minimum of twelve credit hours is required for the Graduate Certificate. All courses must be taken at UNC Charlotte.
Students must follow the course guidelines for the selection of the four classes, as indicated below.
CSLG 7142 Introduction to Play Therapy (Spring, Summer)
CSLG 7144 Contemporary Theories of Play Therapy (Fall)
CSLG 7143 Filial Therapy (Spring) OR
CSLG 7145 Special Topics in Play Therapy: Group Play Therapy (TBA)
CSLG 7143 Filial Therapy (Spring)
CSLG 7145 Special Topics in Play Therapy (may be repeated) (TBA)
CSLG 6200 Introduction to Theories of Family Counseling (Spring)
CSLG 7430 Practicum in Counseling (for students currently
enrolled in the counseling program with permission)
CSLG 7435 Internship in Counseling (for students currently
enrolled in the counseling program with permission)
