The National Museum of American Art of the Smithsonian Institution is the first federal art collection in the United States.  The collection of more than 37,000 works of art in all media reflects 200 years of artistic achievement in America.  The museum represents all regions, cultures, and traditions in the United States and is committed to the understanding, exhibition, and preservation of America's visual heritage.
