North Carolina Teaching Fellows

Committee Information

Leadership is an important component of the NC Teaching Fellows Program. Committee involvement is a way in which Teaching Fellows can demonstrate their leadership skills. Scheduled committee meetings are conducted twice a semester and otherwise on an as needed basis. Each committee will have three Fellows serve as co-chairs to oversee the completion of the tasks of the subcommittees.  (Effective Practitioners/Leaders in the Profession/Responsive Teachers)

Recruitment Committee.  Members of this committee are responsible each year for Explore UNC Charlotte, middle and high school visitations, Open House for prospective students and the general promotion of the Teaching Fellows Program.

Enhancement Committee.  Members of the Enhancement Committee are responsible for planning and funding enhancement activities annually such as social events, travel experiences, and service opportunities.

Communications Committee.  Communications Committee members are responsible for the following duties:

Pictures for Website - Taking pictures at ALL Teaching Fellows activities/functions/etc. for various uses such as website, Senior Video, newsletter, etc.  All pictures should be submitted to Program Assistant. 

Newsletter - Updating the biannual Teaching Fellows newsletter, The Chalkboard,  Each member writes at least one article per semester. Designated members edit the newsletter and submit for publication on this website and emailed to Advisory Board members and COED faculty and staff.

Bulletin Board – Members update bulletin board seasonally with information Teaching Fellows would find helpful or interesting, such as current events at UNC Charlotte, as well as local community events.  The bulletin board should also serve as a public relation tool to acquaint others with the NC Teaching Fellows Program so should include information about the Teaching Fellows community.

Mentoring Committee.  New this year, the Mentoring Committee members are responsible for helping facilitate activities and connections between freshman Mentees and their upperclassman Mentors.
